Former Cincinnati center Steve Toyloy dead at 37

A former college basketball player passed away suddenly at the age of 37.

Steve Toyroy, who played the University of Cincinnati center between 2008 and 2010, passed away, and the school announced on social media.

“Cincinnati basketball laments the loss of Steve Toyroy, a bearcat from 2008 to 2010. Our thoughts are Steve's family, teammates and everything that knows him. It's about thinking with people.” The school posted.

The cause of death was not announced.

Standing 6 feet 8, Toyroy was welcomed from West Palm, Florida, and after two years at Miami-Dade College at the junior college level, he transferred to Cincinnati.

He averaged 3.6 points and 3.5 rebounds during his time with the Bearcats, appearing in 67 games, starting 29 of which.

Toyloy was fifth in the Bearcats during his senior season at Cincinnati, averaging 15.7 minutes per game that year.

After his tenure in Cincinnati ended, Toyroy continued to play basketball professionally for Turkish Istanvalspor.

He also played professionally in Brazil and Malaysia and was the MVP of the MPL in 2019.
