Former Disney employee facing allegations of manipulating Disney World menus, denial-of-service attacks

A man fired by Disney is accused of tampering with restaurant menus and conducting denial-of-service attacks against a small number of employees through unauthorized access to menu technology used by Disney World.

These claims were filed last week in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida in connection with a criminal complaint alleging that Michael Scheuer “manipulated the menus of restaurants owned and operated by Company A” by hacking Company A's servers. This was done in court documents. A tool the company, which describes itself as a “media and entertainment company,” was using in its restaurants.

According to the complaint, the former Disney employee “indicated that certain menu items were safe for people with peanut allergies, when in fact they could be fatal to people with peanut allergies.” “Manipulated the allergen information on the menu by adding the information to several allergen notifications.” ” He also allegedly made “price changes” and included “profanity” on the menu.

Schuer, a former “menu production manager” who was fired in mid-June for “misconduct,” appears to have used a personal computer to do so, according to the filing.

“Mr. Schuer has a mental illness that affected his employment with Disney. He also suffered a medical incident that resulted in his suspension,” the attorney said. “Later, Disney did not respond to inquiries about why he was suspended, and the suspension was inexplicably changed to dismissal. Disney refused to answer why he was fired, and the He then filed a complaint with the EEOC.'' ”

The investigation into the cyberattack included a search of Mr. Scheier's home by the FBI, and he denied both involvement and wrongdoing, according to court filings.
