Former DNI Tulsi Gabbard: Husband’s recent surgery was successful and took nearly 7 hours

Tulsi Gabbard shares that her husband’s recent surgery was successful and lasted nearly 7 hours.

Health Update from Tulsi Gabbard

On Thursday, Tulsi Gabbard, the outgoing Director of National Intelligence, provided an important health update regarding her husband, Abraham Williams. He recently underwent a significant and intricate surgical procedure for a rare type of bone cancer.

In a post on X, Gabbard explained that Williams was diagnosed with a sacral chordoma, which is an uncommon tumor located in the sacrum, the area at the base of the spine.

She mentioned that the surgery lasted nearly seven hours as doctors worked to remove the affected bone and surrounding tissues. Although Williams had a tough night and is still experiencing a notable amount of pain, Gabbard confirmed that he has been discharged and is recovering at home. She wrote, “Now the recovery begins.”

This health update follows Gabbard’s decision to resign from her prominent position as DNI to focus on her family. In mid-May, she met with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office to formally resign, effective June 30, 2026. In her resignation letter, Gabbard highlighted her husband as her “rock” throughout their eleven years together, stressing her need to support him fully during this challenging time.

After the announcement of her departure, President Trump supported her decision. He noted on Truth Social that Gabbard should rightfully be by her husband’s side during his treatment and recovery.

In her latest update, Gabbard expressed heartfelt thanks to the community for their prayers and well-wishes, which have been a source of comfort during this medical ordeal.

“My husband Abraham was diagnosed with a very rare sacral chordoma. The surgery to remove bone and surrounding tissue lasted almost seven hours and was successful. He had a rough night and is in a lot of pain but is finally home resting. Now recovery begins. We’re so grateful for the outpouring of prayers and kind messages from all of you. Our hearts are full,” she stated on X.
