Former Miami Dolphins Pro Bowl Safety Reshad Jones has reportedly been defrauded of $2.58 million by a woman who is now in prison. According to a local report, Octavia Monique Graham, 49, turned herself in on Monday and faces charges of two counts of money laundering and one count of first-degree grand theft.
Isaiah Williams, who previously served as Jones’s financial advisor and is believed to be connected to the scheme, has not yet been arrested.
Representatives for Jones, Chase Carlson and Jeff Son, told ESPN that this incident highlights a recurring issue where professional athletes are taken advantage of by the financial firms they trust.
They further noted, “In this case, the fraudster was a vice president at Merrill Lynch, a major financial institution.” They are currently in the process of seeking legal action against Merrill Lynch to recover the losses incurred by their client.
According to Fort Lauderdale police, from January 2022 to March 2024, Williams allegedly manipulated Jones’s bank account, stealing around $1.58 million through 133 wire transfers used to settle two American Express credit cards.
Court documents indicate that the stolen funds financed flights on premium airlines and expenses for various women, designer clothes, car rentals, legal fees, child support, club outings, and even trips to Mexico where Williams is claimed to have enjoyed tax-free spending.
In addition to the initial theft, Williams is accused of stealing another $1.03 million with Graham’s involvement, despite Jones claiming he had never met her. Reports suggest that 16 checks, totaling about $435,000 from Graham’s account, were deposited into Williams’s Chase account between October 2019 and September 2021.
Graham allegedly executed 88 transactions to Williams amounting to roughly $184,000 from her Bank of America account.
Police estimates indicate the total loss to Jones stands at around $2.58 million.
Currently, Graham is being held on a $75,000 bond at the Paul Rain Detention Facility in Pompano Beach, Florida.
Jones, now 37, mentioned he is considering suing the police regarding the charges. He had a decade-long career with the Dolphins from 2010 to 2019, making Pro Bowl appearances in 2017 and 2019.
