Jamal Anderson Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges

Jamal Anderson, the former running back for the Falcons, was taken into custody at his Los Angeles home on Wednesday, facing allegations of domestic violence.

According to police reports, officers were called to a residence in the San Fernando Valley at around 11 a.m. after a reported altercation. They found that what had started as a verbal dispute escalated to a physical confrontation, during which Anderson allegedly strangled the victim.

Although paramedics arrived, the victim declined medical assistance, per NBC LA.

Anderson was arrested and later booked into jail at 1:55 p.m. He was released after posting a $50,000 bail, based on information from jail records.

His next court appearance is set for 8:30 a.m. on December 3, according to online documentation.

Anderson is widely recognized for his NFL career, during which he played exclusively for the Falcons from 1994 to 2001.

Over his 88-game career, he amassed 5,336 rushing yards and 34 touchdowns, starting in 64 of those matches.

His most notable season was in 1998, when he rushed for 1,846 yards and scored 14 touchdowns, culminating in a Super Bowl appearance where the Falcons were defeated by John Elway’s Broncos.

Anderson, who gained fame for his unique end zone dances, was dubbed the “Dirty Bird.” He was a seventh-round draft pick in 1994 and retired in 2001 due to a knee injury.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Anderson has faced legal troubles. Back in 2009, he was arrested for cocaine possession at a nightclub, and in 2012, he was detained for driving under the influence.

In a separate incident in 2018, he was arrested after refusing to pay a limousine driver. Additionally, he was banned from a Georgia store after reportedly acting inappropriately while intoxicated.
