Former Giants linebacker detained following fight at Fort Lauderdale airport

Michael Barrow, a former defensive player for the New York Giants, found himself in legal trouble after a turbulent incident at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport. Reports indicate that on Tuesday, Barrow got into a contentious discussion with family members, during which his fist accidentally made contact with his wife’s face, as noted by sports journalist Andy Slater.

According to sources, Barrow’s wife, Shelley, fell to the ground following the altercation. He now faces charges of home battery, with prison records revealing three counts against him. As of now, further details regarding the arrest haven’t been released.

On Wednesday, Barrow proclaimed his innocence in court and was subsequently released on a $5,000 bond. The 55-year-old has a noteworthy football background, having played for the Miami Hurricanes, where he was part of two National Championship winning teams and received the Big East Defensive Player of the Year accolade in 1992. Barrow was drafted by the Houston Oilers in 1993 and after spending four seasons there, he played for the Carolina Panthers, making his last NFL appearance with the Giants in 2003.

Following his playing career, Barrow transitioned to coaching, contributing to the Miami coaching staff for several years and also having a role with the Seattle Seahawks.
