Estelle Getty’s Former Home Hits the Market

The Los Angeles home of late actress Estelle Getty, famously known for her role in “The Golden Girls,” is currently for sale. Listed at $7.65 million, the property spans 4,552 square feet and is being marketed by agents Paul Lester and Eileen Comora.

This residence, built in 1948, boasts five bedrooms and five bathrooms, along with a spacious chef’s kitchen. There’s also a guest suite featuring a private bathroom and a walk-in closet, which could be quite convenient for visitors. On the lower level, you’ll find an entrance that could serve various purposes—whether it’s an office, a gym, or even another guest suite. There’s also a wine cellar with a capacity for up to 1,500 bottles. Imagine the dinner parties!

Outside, the home offers an outdoor dining space and lounge area, complemented by a wrap-around porch and a garage that fits two cars.

Estelle Getty started her career on Broadway in the 1980s before making a mark with her memorable character Sophia Petrillo in “The Golden Girls.” The show, which also starred Rue McClanahan, Betty White, and Bea Arthur, became a television classic, and each actress won an Emmy Award during their time on the show. Interestingly, there were rumors of drama among the cast, but McClanahan later clarified these in her memoirs, insisting the set was a happy place. Yet, you can’t help but wonder how true that really was.

After “The Golden Girls” wrapped up, White continued to find success in projects like the spin-off series “The Golden Palace,” and films such as “The Proposal” and “The Lorax.” Unfortunately, she passed away in December 2021, just shy of her 100th birthday.

The home, with its mix of charm and utility, represents a piece of television history and perhaps a cozy nook for someone drawn to its storied past. The spacious master bedroom has direct access to the beautifully manicured lawn, adding a nice touch to the living experience.

In the end, scenes from the show might flash through your mind as you imagine life in this lovely abode, much like how Valerie Bertinelli reflected on Betty White’s charm during filming. “She just kind of lights up when she walks into a room,” she said. It’s hard not to feel the warmth of such memories.
