Reza Pahlavi Calls for Democratic Transition in Iran

The exiled Iranian prince, Reza Pahlavi, has expressed his intention to lead a democratic transition in Iran during a recent speech aimed at dismantling the Islamic Republic. Speaking from Paris, he stated, “Today, it’s clearer than ever that the Islamic Republic is crumbling.” He highlighted reports that senior officials, including Ali Khamenei’s family, are preparing to escape Iran, suggesting the regime’s days are numbered as unity among citizens grows.

Pahlavi likened the current situation to a “Berlin Wall moment,” emphasizing the urgency for change. He criticized the concealed actions of Iran’s supreme leader, Khamenei, who reportedly sought refuge in a bunker while U.S. troops targeted Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend. Amid fears for his safety, Khamenei has restricted communication with commanders, relying solely on trusted aides, according to reports.

Pahlavi, whose father was the last Shah of Iran before the 1979 revolution, warned that if the West supports the existing regime, it could lead to further bloodshed. He remarked, “If the current regime is allowed to survive, we will see chaos, as they will not capitulate easily.” He advocates for a “peaceful and democratic transition,” asserting that the future of Iran should be secular and democratic.

“I am here to support my fellow countrymen,” Pahlavi stated, emphasizing his role not as a seeker of power but as someone committed to guiding Iran toward stability and justice. He expressed his discontent over Khamenei’s tactics, labeling the Iranian people as “human shields” for the regime’s actions and highlighted his anger over the ongoing conflict affecting civilians in cities like Tehran and Isfahan.

In a pointed message to Khamenei, Pahlavi urged him to resign, promising a fair trial if he does. He believes in a future where senior officials will be held accountable, stating, “We must not repeat past mistakes in transitions.” His allegiance lies with the Iranian state, not the Islamic Republic, and he aims to bridge the gap between military personnel and his movement through an official communication channel.

Amid regional tensions, Pahlavi acknowledged the international community’s concerns regarding nuclear weapons and stability. He asserted that simply targeting nuclear sites wouldn’t eliminate the regime’s intent to acquire such weapons, particularly if the situation escalates or the regime seeks weapons from allies like North Korea.

Pahlavi outlined a vision for Iran’s future based on three pillars: maintaining territorial integrity, ensuring individual freedoms, and establishing a separation between religion and state. He proposed a “National Unification Summit” to gather various societal leaders in developing a roadmap for a democratic transition, advocating for a referendum so that the Iranian people can determine their future.

Lastly, Pahlavi mentioned that he has plans for economic reconstruction and social stabilization post-regime, promising that details will be revealed soon. He sees potential in Iran and aims to collaborate with global investors and experts to help realize a brighter future for the nation.
