Former ‘Jeopardy!’ Contestant Laurin Bell Dies Tragically At Age 41

Former “Jeopardy!” Contestant Laurin Bell died by suicide at the age of 41, authorities said.

Her death was confirmed by a loved one who shared the devastating news March 24 on Facebook. The Florida County Medical Examiner’s Office (FCMEO) told The Sun that they had ruled Bell’s death a suicide and said it took place on March 23.

“It is with a heavy heart that we have to let everyone know Laurin Bell decided to end her life last night,” Kristen Joyner wrote. “She was a brilliant, funny, and beautiful soul ❤️ Please keep everyone in your thoughts and prayers as they process this loss 😢.”

Joyner told commentators that she was Bell’s cousin. She appealed to Bell’s network of fans and friends to assist in finding a loving home for the beloved dog she left behind.

“She had a dog that was taken to the pound, if anyone is willing to take her in please let me know 🙏🏼,” Joyner wrote.

She continued, “she is 14 years old and not good with other dogs, but is friendly with everyone and cats. She’s a great companion and needs love 🥺🫶🏼.”

The tragedy of Bell’s death was compounded by the notice that her dog would be put down in days unless someone steps in to assist.

“The pup is at the shelter located in Polk County, FL. Her name is Kinley. She has 10 days 😢💔,” Joyner wrote.

Joyner also shared a photo of Bell competing on “Jeopardy!” as well as what appeared to be a screenshot of a post on Facebook from her, which read, “Well everyone, I’m signing off from life. See you on the other side.”

The post does not appear on her Facebook account at the time of publication. It is not clear whether the post is authentic.

“An autopsy has been performed, and toxicology testing is underway,” an FCMEO spokesperson told the Daily Mail. (RELATED: George Foreman Dead At 76)

Bell appeared as a contestant on the 2023 Valentine’s Day episode, answered 86.67% of the questions correctly and earned $5,200, according to the outlet. Loved ones and fans of the show have taken to social media to share their grief as they process this sudden loss.
