Amare Stoudamire to Be Inducted into Basketball Hall of Fame
Amare Stoudamire is set to enter the Basketball Hall of Fame, adding another significant milestone to his impressive career.
The former six-time NBA All-Star, who dedicated five of his 14 seasons to the New York Knicks, will join the Class of 2026 through an announcement from ESPN’s Shams Charania.
This year’s induction class also includes notable figures like coach Doc Rivers and WNBA stars Candice Parker and Elena Delle Donne.
At 43 years old, Stoudamire was chosen ninth overall in the 2002 draft by the Phoenix Suns straight out of high school and clinched the Rookie of the Year title in his first year. He became famous for his dynamic partnership with star point guard Steve Nash, particularly in executing pick-and-roll plays.
Renowned worldwide for his explosive style, Stoudamire earned five All-NBA selections and was in the top 10 for MVP four times.
He also represented Team USA, earning a bronze medal during the 2004 Athens Olympics. Despite the team’s struggles, he was notable for sharing the court with future teammate and Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony, who will be inducted in 2025.
Stoudamire joined the Knicks before the 2010-11 season and delivered an impressive first year, averaging 25.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game, making him the team’s sole All-Star candidate.
During his initial three years with New York, the Knicks reached the playoffs each season, even making it to the Eastern Conference semifinals in 2013. Unfortunately, it would be several years before they returned to the postseason, which occurred in 2021 under new head coach Tom Thibodeau.
He was traded to the Dallas Mavericks during the 2014-15 season and wrapped up his career with the Miami Heat, finishing with averages of 18.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks over 846 games.
