Former Democratic Rep. Tim Ryan said in an interview Saturday that the Democratic Party needs a complete rebrand and that many parts of the Democratic Party brand are “toxic.”

“Start with a complete reset. We need a rebrand. I think you and I have been talking about this since 2016. For example, our brand is toxic in so many places. And it's like, 'Are you a Democrat? That's our problem.' So a complete reboot is required. We need a complete reboot with the DNC,” he said on MSNBC's “The Weekend.”

Ryan spoke to MSNBC about how the Democratic Party should move forward as President-elect Donald Trump continues to question where he went wrong after his victory over Vice President Kamala Harris.

“People want to trust us. They don't want to go to Donald Trump. Centrists, let me tell you, they're holding their noses to vote for him, but we 'We're re-industrializing, we're talking about American competitiveness, they've had enough,''' Ryan added.

“With all due respect, I have a lot of respect for him.” [Sanders]for what he stands for, but I don't respect his statement that the Democratic Party has abandoned working class families. That’s where we are,” Pelosi said on the New York Times podcast “The Interview.”

Ryan suggested Democrats focus on former President Bill Clinton's “touchstone” campaign.

“The other thing that I think is really important is that we can't just support redistribution. We're going to tax the rich bad guys and we're going to have people make money in America.” 'We're going to tax them because we're going to tax them for them.' They're really bad people and we're going to give you money. That's what you want to increase profits. That's Bill Clinton's campaign. Please take a look. “It's a touchstone for reinventing government,” he said.
