Former Michigan Football Coach Awaits Sentencing

Former Michigan football head coach Sherone Moore is set to find out on Tuesday whether he’ll be facing prison time. This comes after he broke into his assistant’s home shortly after their affair came to an end.

At 40 years old, the married father of three faces sentencing in Washtenaw County Court, marking a dramatic fall from grace. The details surrounding his relationship with his mistress, Paige Shriver, first surfaced in December.

Last month, Moore accepted a plea deal, which allowed him to avoid a trial and escape more serious charges like burglary and stalking.

In court on December 10, he pleaded no contest to two misdemeanors—malicious use of a telecommunications device in a domestic relationship and trespassing. This is quite a shift from the maximum potential sentence of five years for burglary.

Now, Moore could face up to six months in prison for the communication charges and an additional 30 days for the trespassing incident.

The scandal erupted when Moore, who had a hefty salary of $5.5 million a year, was accused of breaking into Shriver’s home shortly after she was terminated for their two-year secret relationship. Shriver, 32, claims she ended things, but Moore persisted with texts and calls for several days before ultimately reporting the relationship to the school.

After the affair was disclosed, Moore allegedly broke into Shriver’s residence, taking a butter knife and kitchen shears while threatening her life.

Reportedly, he shouted, “I’m going to kill myself. I’ll let you watch. My blood is on your hands. You’ve ruined my life.”

Upon being fired, his wife immediately contacted 911, expressing her fears that he may harm himself.

Post-arrest, Moore was released on bail but was required to wear a tracking device leading up to his sentencing.
