Former Michigan Employee Talks About Relationship with Football Coach

In a recent interview, Paige Shiver, a former employee at the University of Michigan, disclosed that she had an affair with Sherone Moore, the former head football coach, which resulted in her pregnancy.

Speaking with ABC News’ Lindsey Davis, Shiver shared details about her connection with Moore, including the circumstances leading to his dismissal from the university. During an emotional segment of the interview, she mentioned how Moore got her pregnant.

Shiver, unfortunately, was later diagnosed with Pompe disease, a condition that causes muscle weakness and can lead to respiratory issues. She recounted that multiple doctors advised against continuing the pregnancy, stating it wasn’t safe for her health, although she expressed a desire to keep the baby. Moore, according to her, urged her to prioritize her health.

Moore was let go from his position in December following revelations about their relationship. He faces charges, including stalking and burglary, after he allegedly broke into Shiver’s home and threatened to harm himself with a butter knife. He ultimately accepted a plea deal, entering a no-contest plea to two misdemeanors. This took place on the same day a judge was set to hear a challenge regarding earlier felony charges, which were ultimately dropped in exchange for his plea on the lesser charges.

Shiver recounted a frightening encounter shortly after Moore’s termination when he appeared at her apartment. She described how she heard him approaching, felt alarmed, and attempted to lock the door. In a moment of panic, she backed away as he confronted her, expressing feelings of danger. She remembered him towering over her, distressed, claiming she had “ruined his life.” During this incident, he allegedly grabbed a butter knife.

Reflecting on the traumatic experience, Shiver indicated that she felt stronger consequences should have been imposed on Moore for his actions. “Yes, I think he should have been punished more for what he did,” she remarked, underscoring her belief in a need for accountability.

Moore’s attorney has commented that he is moving on from this chapter in his life.
