Former Michigan Player Makes Claims Amid Scandal
Anthony Simpson, a former wide receiver for the Michigan Wolverines, has recently shared some surprising insights regarding his playing time, linking it to the ongoing scandal involving Sherrone Moore.
Moore, who was dismissed from Michigan State in December due to alleged inappropriate conduct with a staff member, faced further legal issues following an incident with a woman. In the wake of his firing, Kyle Whittingham was appointed as Michigan’s new head coach.
Simpson, who transferred from the University of Massachusetts to Michigan before the 2025 season, found himself with limited on-field opportunities and eventually entered the transfer portal again, still holding an additional year of eligibility.
In a now-deleted post on social media, he suggested that his lack of playing time was tied to players allegedly feeling uncomfortable due to Moore’s personal issues. Simpson expressed his frustrations, stating that he believed he’d be overlooked if he remained silent about the impacts of the scandal on his chances for success. “I tried to stay at Michigan,” he mentioned, indicating that he was told there were no available roster spots for him by a staff member.
Simpson’s comments hinted at the influence of team dynamics, stating that he was treated unfairly despite believing he was one of the best slot receivers. He noted that threats toward Moore from both players and staff influenced his opportunities on the field.
Other former Michigan players, including Christian Dixon and Raheem Anderson, seem to back up Simpson’s claims. After expressing his views, Simpson subsequently transferred to Toledo for his college football career.
As Michigan moves forward into 2026, the resolution of the Moore case remains on the horizon.
