Former NATO commander says war in Ukraine 'a long way from being over'

Former NATO Supreme Allied CMDR. Wesley Clark said on Sunday that the war in Ukraine was a “long road since it ended.”

“[The] Clark told News Nation's Chris Steelwalt on “Hill Sunday.” “the [hard] I look at Russia through the eyes of Russia. Most of us look at Russia and say, “The economy is in trouble, the military isn't that fast, it's causing many casualties.”

“But we have to look at Russia through Russian history, Russian culture and the current mechanisms of Russia. Putin is building war machinery. Russia's military industrial facilities are open 24/7 and receive a lot of support from China, Iran and North Korea. He has not actually tapped all the talent preparation. He is trying to do this cheap,” he added.

Comments from Clark came after a fiery oval office meeting between President Trump, Ukrainian President Voldy Mee Zelensky and Vice President Vance on Friday.

After the meeting, Trump said on his true social platform that the Ukrainian president “is not ready for peace because he feels that our involvement is giving him a great advantage in negotiations when America is involved.”

Trump has concluded the war between Russia and Ukraine, with Russian authorities meeting in Saudi Arabia last month.

With the appearance of “Sunday on the Hill,” Clark said Putin was “in a very strong negotiating position.”

“But Chris, the rest is Ukraine. This incident at the White House brought Zelensky and Ukraine support from the people of Europe and Ukrainians,” Clark added. “They are not trying to abandon Ukraine to Russia.”
