Former NBA player Patrick Beverley taken into custody for assault

Former NBA player Patrick Beverley was arrested recently in Texas on a third-degree felony assault charge, as reported by The Post.

TMZ was the first to report that Beverley was arrested in Fort Bend County and booked on family violence charges.

He has since posted a $40,000 bail.

Beverley is expected to be released late Friday night.

According to jail records, the incident involved an alleged assault against a household member, indicated by the phrase “impeding breathing or circulation”.

Specific details about what happened have not been disclosed yet.

If found guilty of this third-degree felony in Texas, he could potentially face a prison sentence ranging from two to ten years.

Following his arrest, Beverley took to social media with a message. He wrote, “Don’t believe everything you see on the internet. I hope everything goes well, luv,” on X.

Throughout his career, the veteran guard has encountered disciplinary issues, including an NBA suspension due to confrontations with fans, but there are no public records of violent felony arrests previously.

He did have a run-in with law enforcement back in 2015 over an unpaid toll.

According to his attorney, who spoke with TMZ, Beverley is prepared to share his account in court. Leticia Quinones-Hollins commented, “Patrick Beverly has no criminal record. He cares deeply about his sister, who is a young minor.” She noted that any brother would be concerned, especially when he unexpectedly found her alone at home with an 18-year-old guy late at night. Still, they believe the events that followed did not happen as claimed, and they look forward to addressing it in court.

Beverley’s last stint in the NBA was in 2024, after which he signed with Hapoel Tel Aviv last summer, playing in both the Israeli Basketball Premier League and EuroCup.

However, he parted ways with the organization in February and didn’t finish the season in Europe.

At 37, Beverley boasts three All-Defensive team selections during his career, which spanned from 2012 to 2024 following an earlier period in Europe.
