Former NFL Player Wins UFC Contract

Josh Hokitt, a former NFL fullback, made headlines on Tuesday night after securing a UFC contract during the Dana White contender series. In an impressive display, he knocked out Gilhelm Uriel in the second round, landing a flurry of elbows while Uriel was down on the mat. The fight was called off by the referee.

Post-fight, Hokitt delivered a bold promo reminiscent of pro wrestling. He expressed, “I left the liberal snowflake NFL and played real guys sports with a real guy promotion. Here I do that by winning this UFC contract… I keep finding my way, I find that path to UFC gold. Mark my words.”

While wearing an American flag bandana, he suggested that the UFC should tackle serious societal issues, stating, “I’ll line up pedophiles, sex traffickers, rapists, and even transgender fighters as my next foes.” His passionate words about aiming for justice and consequences in the octagon certainly left an impression.

Interestingly, Hokit has never been defeated in the regular season of the NFL. He joined the San Francisco 49ers in 2020 and was part of the practice squad before attempting to join the Arizona Cardinals in 2022.

He remains undefeated in his MMA career, having previously won fights at Bellator before transitioning to the Legacy Fighting Alliance. The matchup with Uriel marked his first link to the UFC, showcasing his aspirations in the world of mixed martial arts.
