New information has emerged regarding the recent arrest of former Carolina Panthers player Greg Hardy, who is facing charges related to an incident involving his girlfriend. Reports indicate that the altercation occurred as they were returning home from a park.
The Richardson Police Department has unveiled an arrest report detailing the events leading up to the confrontation. According to the woman involved, their argument began after she questioned Hardy about suspicions of infidelity, having previously seen messages that raised her concerns.
The situation reportedly escalated when she claimed that Hardy pushed her with both hands on her chest. Following this, he allegedly pinned her down on the bed, holding one hand around her neck. Despite the gravity of the situation, she stated that she remained conscious and could breathe normally. She even admitted to kicking him, which prompted Hardy to leave the residence.
When officers spoke to Hardy, who had driven away, he described the disagreement as stemming from the text message conflict. He asserted that she had approached him aggressively, which led him to “move” her out of the way and place her on the bed.
During the police investigation, the officers noted visible injuries on her arms that were consistent with a physical confrontation, while Hardy showed no visible signs of injury. Ultimately, Hardy, now 36, has been charged with assault causing bodily injury to a family member.
Hardy had a turbulent career, spending five seasons with the Panthers before facing domestic violence allegations back in 2014. Though he was initially convicted of assault in connection with events involving a previous girlfriend, those charges were later dismissed due to her failure to appear in court. He went on to play a season with the Dallas Cowboys but was suspended for four games due to violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy and did not return for the following season.
