Appeal for Missing Former NFL Player Sam Beal
The sister of Sam Beal, a former defensive back for the New York Giants, is reaching out to the public for assistance in locating her brother, who has been missing for almost seven months.
Essence Zane took to her Facebook on Monday, urging anyone who might have information about Beal’s whereabouts to contact the Kentwood, Virginia Police Department.
“Tomorrow marks seven months since I’ve last seen or heard from my brother,” she shared on social media. “We’ve done everything we can to piece together what happened, but the support we need is critical right now. I’m not here to explain everything; I just want answers and some closure so we can move forward.”
She continued, “As a big sister, it’s hard to bear this weight without knowing where he is. We love you, Sam, and we miss you.” Her sentiments, while heartfelt, also reflect the pain of uncertainty that has lingered during these months.
According to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, Beal last had contact with family on July 13, 2025. He was reported missing from Virginia Beach, Virginia.
At the time of his disappearance, he was described as having black hair, a muscular build, and brown eyes. His girlfriend was reportedly the last person to see him. He was intending to drop her off at his parents’ house before heading to work but instead went to Virginia Beach. She stated that in their last conversation, he mentioned he would be going home.
The missing persons database indicated that he left with only the clothes on his back, a pair of slides, and a wallet with his bank cards and driver’s license. Notably, the girlfriend’s car, found by a family member in Virginia Beach, contained Beal’s shoes and socks on the passenger side along with sand on the floor.
Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Beal attended high school there and later went to Western Michigan University. He was selected by the Giants in the 2018 NFL Supplemental Draft. In his rookie season in 2019, he played in several games, starting three, but opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns.
In a separate incident, Beal had previously pleaded guilty to a firearms charge before the 2021 season, resulting in a one-year probation sentence.
