Former NFL player Kevin Ware pleads guilty to killing his girlfriend.

Kevin Ware Jr., who had a short career in the NFL, recently pled guilty just days before jury selection was set to begin for the murder of his former girlfriend, Taylor Pomaski, according to several Houston news outlets.

During a court appearance on Wednesday, Ware accepted a plea deal for tampering with evidence, particularly involving a body, and received a 30-year prison sentence. He was alleged to have set Pomaski’s remains on fire.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office has not yet commented on the case. Ware, who is 44 years old, faced murder charges stemming from the incident.

In July of 2022, he was indicted for both murder and tampering. Houston, being the largest city in Harris County, has been a focal point in this case.

Pomaski, who was 29 at the time, was last seen in April 2021 at her home in Texas. After several months of searching, her remains were discovered in a ditch in December 2021 and later identified in April 2022.

Prior to Pomaski’s disappearance, Ware was arrested on charges related to drug possession and firearm offenses. He had been released on bond in April 2021, just before Pomaski went missing. The murder charge will be processed alongside these previous charges.

Ware is scheduled to be officially sentenced on May 9th.

Throughout his career, Ware played for the Washington team in 2003 and then for the San Francisco 49ers in 2004.
