Colts owner Jim Irsay expressed his sadness over his former player’s death on social media.

“I am very saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Vontae Davis,” Irsay wrote. “A great man, teammate and player. My prayers go out to Bonte’s family.”

He was traded to Buffalo for the 2018 season, but Davis appeared in just one game with the Bills before abruptly retiring at halftime and never played in the NFL again.
