John Lovett Discusses Biden’s Health Concerns on Podcast
John Lovett, a former aide to Obama and co-host of the podcast “Pod Save America,” shared on Jon Stewart’s “Weekly Show” that he chose to hold back his worries about President Joe Biden’s health during the 2024 campaign.
During the discussion, Lovett mentioned that he hesitated to voice his apprehensions about Biden’s declining physical state because he wanted him to succeed. “I felt like it was my responsibility to talk about this, but I also thought Biden could overcome it. Still, I thought, maybe he should step back,” he said. He elaborated, “I didn’t know all that was happening behind the scenes. So if Biden is the candidate, I want him to win.”
He expressed concerns that airing his views could end up being used against Biden by opponents. He explained, “I was trying to justify my thoughts to avoid them being misinterpreted and turned into a political weapon against him, especially by those on the right who might use criticism from the left for their advantage.”
Lovett reflected on the challenges of being honest about Biden’s age, stating that if Biden were to run, it was vital to support him fully in hopes of re-election.
Recently, CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson have drawn attention to Biden’s health while promoting a new book, “Original Sin,” which discusses the former president’s decline and alleged cover-ups by his administration.
