Arrest of Delta Pilot Linked to Disturbing Child Abuse Case

Recently, a former girlfriend of a Delta Airlines pilot was arrested after the aircraft landed in California. The charges against her involve a grave situation that reportedly includes a young girl.

According to reports from Blaze News, federal agents conducted a swift operation at San Francisco International Airport. They removed the co-pilot, 34-year-old Rustom Bhagwagar from a Delta plane that had just landed on July 26th.

It is alleged that the victim of the abuse was only six years old when it started and that it continued until she turned 11, as detailed in court documents.

The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office stated that they have been investigating this matter since April 2025 due to reports of child sexual offenses.

Bhagwagar was arrested and taken to the Martinez detention facility. Initially, he faced charges for five counts of engaging in sexual acts with a child under the age of 10.

However, more charges are expected, with a total of 24 felony counts likely to be leveled against him. These include various offenses such as engaging in sexual activity with a minor and other serious allegations.

The bail for Bhagwagar was increased significantly from $5 million to $15 million.

“Our diligent work on these cases is aimed at seeking justice for victims and safeguarding the community from those who exploit children,”

Law enforcement has also indicated that Bhagwagar’s ex-girlfriend, 45-year-old Jennifer Powell, is under investigation for her involvement in similar allegations of abuse.

A detective stated that Powell had been arrested in connection with the case, being the mother of the child who was allegedly abused.

The District Attorney’s Office mentioned that Powell has also been indicted and taken to the Martinez detention facility.

Both Powell and Bhagwagar are facing potential sentences of up to 15 years if convicted.

Further context reveals that it’s believed Powell was aware of the abuse and might have been involved in it as well. According to statements, the abuse occurred over several years, specifically between 2018 and 2023.

Interestingly, prosecutors indicated that the abuse ceased when Powell ended her relationship with Bhagwagar.

As of their latest court appearance, neither suspect entered a plea, and they are expected to return to court in August.

“Our commitment remains steadfast in protecting children and penalizing those who cause harm. Every child deserves safety and to have their voice heard,”

The Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office continues to pursue the investigation, urging anyone with information to come forward.

In light of these shocking developments, Delta Airlines has acted quickly, terminating Bhagwagar’s employment.

A spokesperson for Delta stated, “The company takes these accusations very seriously and will cooperate fully with law enforcement.”
