Jasmine Ray, who once dated Mayor Eric Adams, has shared some revealing and intimate insights about their secret relationship in her upcoming memoir, *Political Mankind*, set to be released this Sunday.
Reflecting on their time together, the 42-year-old recounted a moment where she gently rubbed the back of Adams’ head. She mentioned how his past surgery scars made him feel vulnerable. “If I put my hands there, he could sit for hours,” she noted.
The former couple dated from 2014 to 2016, and Ray described their early relationship with a sense of nostalgia. She reminisced about cozy moments, including a romantic walk in Brooklyn Heights, during which Adams posed a profound question that somehow highlighted their shared beliefs about life’s purpose.
“I blurted out the first thing that came to mind: ‘To reproduce,’” Ray recalled, noting Adams’ surprised reaction. She found out later that he felt the same way.
As their relationship progressed, she mentioned that Adams had taken her to a hotel opening and eventually to his room. Despite their connection, Ray made it clear she wouldn’t sleep with him, prompting an interesting response from Adams.
Describing a moment from that night, she wrote, “A few minutes later, I was laid down. Instead of loosening his belt, he remained dressed and rested his head on my chest before drifting off.” It was a tender, yet complex moment.
Reflecting on their split, Ray expressed how it had unintentionally hindered her ability to love fully again. She indicated that she was eager to move on from Adams and even asked him to “release” her this year.
His immediate and firm response was a simple “No.” Ray noted that there was no need to explain further; both understood the weight of her request. “But here, with these words, in this moment, and for my own sanity and survival, I am freeing myself,” she concluded.
