Revelations from Eric Adams’ Ex-Girlfriend

The former girlfriend of Mayor Eric Adams, who later secured a $160,000 role in his administration, has opened up about their clandestine relationship through a series of memoirs.

Jasmine Ray, 42, asserts that she dated Adams about a decade ago. Before he took office, he named her the first director of the mayor’s office of sports, wellness, and recreation.

A report from The New York Times mentions that Ray’s upcoming book, titled “Political Mankind,” includes numerous insights about Adams.

Ray teased her memoirs on social media this week, with the release set for Sunday.

According to the book’s description, “From the shadows of City Hall to the silence of the closing meeting, Jasmine Ray reveals her unspeakable role in the life of New York City mayor Eric Adams.” It suggests that their secret relationship was filled with “intimacy, sacrifice, and betrayal,” reflecting the broader tensions of the political landscape.

Ray claims their initial meeting occurred in 2014 at a Brooklyn Nets game, with their romantic involvement starting the following year.

However, Adams, then the Brooklyn Borough president, abruptly ended their relationship in 2016.

They attempted to reconnect in 2021, but Ray mentioned to The Times that “the sparks were gone.”

When Adams reached out after winning the Democratic primary in 2021, he reportedly said, “I am planning on becoming mayor of New York City and I don’t want to do this without you.”

Ray recalls a conversation on the Staten Island boardwalk where Adams discussed his aspirations and mentioned former Mayor Bloomberg’s influence on him.

“He kept saying Bloomberg, Bloomberg, Bloomberg,” she recounted. “And I thought, yes, Bloomberg certainly had an impressive reputation.”

Once he became mayor, Adams appointed her as the city’s first sports czar.

She stepped down from this position last Friday as Adams revealed that he had been eliminated from the mayoral election.

Throughout her memoir, Ray shares intimate details, including moments of comfort she provided to Adams, like soothing injuries on the back of his head. “If I put my hands there, he could sit for hours, as if my touch had eased something that no one else could reach,” she wrote.

Ray claims Adams spent years trying to dissuade her from publishing her story, fearing it would harm his career.

Adams has yet to comment publicly on his past relationship with Ray, though he has been in a long-term relationship with Tracey Collins for several years.
