Sean Avery Launches Romance Novel

Sean Avery, the former enforcer for the Rangers, claims he’s bringing a new flair to romance novels with his upcoming release titled *Summer Skate*.

Avery, who had a 12-season career in the NHL with teams like the Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, and Rangers, recently shared the book cover and its release date on Instagram.

“On September 9th, 2025, the Romance novel game is about to be promoted,” the 45-year-old wrote.

The publisher describes the book as a “sexy and addictive” tale that unfolds the illicit romance between rising Rangers star Carter Hughes and bestselling author Jessica Riley, set against the backdrop of her summer getaway in the Hamptons.

The cover promises: “One summer. No rules. Just fever.”

According to the description, it features “a novelist with a rebellious streak” who transforms men into inspiration, alongside a hockey player navigating a tumultuous past and a rise to fame that might just overwhelm him.

“A summer vacation heats up with a forbidden charm strong enough to set the neighboring house ablaze,” it claims.

Riley, who is married with a child, pretends to have a mental breakdown to escape her life. However, as she gets tangled up with Hughes, things spiral out of control, made all the more chaotic by the rowdy hockey players next door.

The narrative captures “sexy and addictive summer skates” as the essence of the story—”the sound of skates cutting across ice in pursuit of victory.” This leaves one wondering, just how intense can it get?

After hanging up his skates in 2012, Avery stepped into writing and acting.

His first book, a bestselling autobiography titled *Ice Capard*, came out in 2017.

Additionally, Avery made an appearance in the acclaimed film *Oppenheimer*.
