Santos was charged with 23 counts including wire fraud, aggravated identity theft and making material false statements to the Federal Election Commission.

Santos has previously pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Negotiations for the plea deal were already taking place late last year, months after Santos was indicted and with a September 2024 trial date already set.
A hearing on the guilty plea is scheduled for Monday at 3 p.m.
Santos was elected in 2022 after flipping his Long Island, New York, seat from Democrat to Republican and helping Republicans establish a slim majority in the House of Representatives.
Just weeks before his term began, The New York Times It was revealed that Santos lied and embellished parts of his resume and background.
Santos’ seat officially became vacant in December 2023 after a majority of House members voted to expel him from Congress.
