Former Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele has harshly criticized former President Trump for his inability to admit that he lost the last presidential election, saying he fears he will lose the next presidential election in November. He said he was there.
“Donald Trump is afraid of losing because it gets to the heart of what matters most to him, which is his ego, and he doesn’t want to actually put in the effort to win. .” Steele said on MSNBC’s “The Weekend.” “He’s trying to incite, cajole and bully people into believing something about us.” [electoral] Because he’s too weak to actually go out and campaign like any other normal candidate who goes out and campaigns. ”
Steele’s comments followed an interview with the former president, who did not commit to accepting the results of Wisconsin’s November election. President Trump said he would be “willing to accept” the election results “if everything is honest.”
Steele countered that U.S. elections are secure. Steele said he believes that, historically, Trump’s “least honest and most corrupt” elections are the ones he lost. This “just shows the inaccuracy of what this guy is saying there,” Steele added.
In an interview with the Milwaukee Journal, Trump falsely claimed he won Wisconsin in 2020 and doubled down on his false claims of widespread voter fraud in that state and elsewhere.
Dating back to the final stages of the 2020 campaign, he has repeatedly refused to commit to accepting the election results. Even after the violence that occurred on January 6, 2021, President Trump remains wavering about whether to accept the outcome this fall, when he faces President Biden for the second time.
Steele said that if Trump loses again, it won’t be because the system is rigged, but because “there are more people who voted against you than voted for you, and our electoral system is rigged. Because it confirms that.”
