She managed to provoke this year’s teacher into throwing books at her.
Jacqueline MA, 36, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for grooming and sexually abusing two elementary school students. The sentence was handed down on Friday, as reported by local sources.
The incident, which took place in San Diego County, Massachusetts, saw the teacher arrested in April 2023. She pleaded guilty in February to multiple charges, including forced indecent behavior against a child and possessing materials involving minors engaging in sexual activity.
MA was employed teaching fifth and sixth graders at Lincoln Acres Elementary School in National City.
During the sentencing, she expressed her “deep shame” over her actions and apologized for robbing the children of their childhood experiences.
“Rather than acting in the best interests of my students, I let my selfishness overshadow my responsibilities,” she stated tearfully in court.
In a rather poignant moment, she expressed her wishes for “extra protection and strength” for those she had harmed.
The investigation into MA began when a mother contacted authorities after discovering love letters and suggestive text messages addressed to her 12-year-old son.
According to prosecutors, the grooming process spanned approximately ten months.
Interestingly, previous reports indicated that MA had also cared for another 11-year-old boy.
On the day of the verdict, neither the victims nor their parents were present in the courtroom.
