Tragic Shooting of Former Team USA Figure Skater
A former figure skater for Team USA, Gabriel “Sam” Linehan, was tragically shot and killed during an apparent armed robbery at a Starbucks drive-thru in St. Louis, Missouri. The incident happened shortly after 10 a.m. on Tuesday while he was in his car in the Tower Grove East neighborhood.
According to a probable cause affidavit from law enforcement, a suspect approached Linehan and opened fire. Authorities have named the suspect as 58-year-old Keith Ramon Brown. Surveillance footage shows Brown wearing a high-visibility vest and helmet at the time of the incident.
Brown is alleged to have stolen multiple bank cards and Linehan’s driver’s license before fleeing the scene. Tragically, Linehan was transported to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Linehan was previously a member of the St. Louis Synergy’s junior team, which earned a silver medal at the 2014 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships. His skating team later expressed their grief through an emotional post on Instagram, reflecting on how Linehan was a cherished coach and mentor whose impact reached far beyond the skating rink.
Brown was apprehended on Wednesday, with police revealing that he was armed at the time and that a search of his home uncovered evidence linked to two other robberies. He faces serious charges including first-degree murder, multiple counts of first-degree robbery, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Currently, Brown is being held without bail at the St. Louis City Justice Center. Reports indicate that his criminal history goes back to the mid-1980s, adding another layer of concern regarding his actions leading up to this incident.
