Former UPenn swimmers sue NCAA over Lia Thomas debacle

Three former NCAA swimmers at the University of Pennsylvania are suing the Governing Body for what they said was a violation of Title IX and repeated emotional trauma.

Swimmers Grace Estabrook, Margot Kakolovsky and Ellen Holmquist filed lawsuits against Upenn, Harvard, the NCAA and Ivy League Conference meetings that require them to share team locker rooms.

Thomas was not appointed as a defendant in the suit; Fox News Although reported, the woman claimed that Upenn still engaged in discrimination by violating Title IX rights and allowing Thomas to compete with women.

The lawsuit also alleged that the woman “injured them and violated federal law,” but that her experience of sharing a changing room with Thomas was “repeatedly emotionally hurt.”

Furthermore, the former swimmer said when he raised the issue with the manager he was led to believe that their concerns were rooted in “psychological issues.”

Additionally, the woman said that during Thomas's time in the locker room, the ideology of a pro-trans was forced onto them.

The lawsuit alleges that “UPENN administrators told women that if they struggle to accept Thomas' participation in UPENN's women's team, they should seek counseling and support from CAPS and the LBGTQ Centre.” .

None of the governing bodies responded to inquiries from Fox News.

The news came when President Trump signed Presidential order To prevent men from competing in women's sports. The order calls for “enforcement action against educational institutions” when women are forced to participate in sports or athletic events with men or “undressed in front of men.” I did.

Violators will be investigated and possibly stripped of federal funds.

On the same day, NCAA President Charlie Baker announced that sports organizations will match new policies.

“We strongly believe that clear, consistent, uniform eligibility standards will best serve today's student-athletes, rather than a patchwork of conflicting state laws and court decisions. That's why President Trump's orders. provides clear national standards.” It is listed.

“The NCAA Committee has reviewed its executive order and will take necessary steps to adjust NCAA policies subject to further guidance from the administration. Student-athletes have been affected by school changes. We are ready to support our schools in search of ways to support student-athletes.”

Baker was burned two months ago by a Republican senator, and the NCAA boss replied that his policy “gives people the option to use the facility.”

Baker called the “federal standards” the reason why NCAA policies were not made regarding transgender athletes, but said he was willing to “work together” to develop government.

At the time, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said the NCAA should focus on bigger issues.

“510,000 NCAA athletes. 10 or fewer trans NCAA athletes across the country. Focus on how to actually improve women's sports.” I wrote.
