Former Minnesota Viking and University of Minnesota football player Jack Brewer commented on the recent morning shooting that left one state legislator and her husband dead, while another lawmaker and his wife sustained injuries. Brewer, who played with the Golden Gophers before joining the Vikings in 2002, expressed his discontent with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, accusing him of allowing the state to devolve into chaos.
“We need to face the truth here. It’s heartbreaking to witness one of the greatest states in America being torn apart under Governor Walz’s leadership. Minnesota feels lost,” Brewer said during an interview.
He reminisced about his time in Minnesota, stating, “I played for the Vikings, I lived there. The atmosphere was different then; people were more respectful. Even if they disagreed, they could have reasonable conversations.” He criticized the current dangers posed by liberal areas around Minneapolis and St. Paul, blaming them on Walz’s leadership.
Police are currently searching for Vance Luther Belter, 57, in connection with the shooting incident. Reports indicate Belter completed his Ph.D. and had previously been appointed to the state’s Workforce Development Committee by two governors.
Sources indicate that Belter allegedly posed as a police officer during the attack on Senator John Hoffman and his wife, severely injuring them before moving on to the home of former Democratic chairman Melissa Hortman, where he killed her and her spouse.
Governor Walz characterized the attack as a politically motivated assassination but did not disclose Belter’s connection as his appointee. Brewer believes Democrats, including Walz, are responsible for the prevailing chaos and called for a return to principled leadership.
Reflecting on Father’s Day, Brewer expressed frustration with the current state of affairs, labeling Walz as a weak leader. He emphasized that the underlying issue is evil, linking the recent violence to a broader moral decline. “Every time you grant power to malevolence, it reveals itself,” he concluded.
