Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas), a former White House physician, Explained The aftermath of the recent shooting at a rally for former President Trump in Pennsylvania.
According to an interview published by The New York Times on Tuesday, Jackson was on board Trump’s plane the day after the rally, and he treated Trump’s ear on the flight to Wisconsin for the upcoming Republican National Convention (RNC).
“The bullet scraped off a little bit of the top of the ear, which is an area that naturally bleeds a lot,” Jackson told The Times. “The bandage is a little thicker because it needs to be absorbent. You don’t want to walk around with bloody gauze on your ear.”
Trump was the victim of an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday. He was hit in the ear and entered the Republican National Convention on Monday with a bandaged ear.
According to the Times interview, Jackson and Trump spoke shortly after the assassination attempt.
“He picked up the phone and said, ‘I don’t answer a lot of phones, but this is my doctor. I’ll take this,'” Jackson told the Times.
According to the Times interview, Jackson told Trump he would help in any way possible, whether through medical care or the media.
“I want you to come here,” former President Jackson said, according to The New York Times. “And I said, ‘All right, that’s enough.'”
According to an interview with The Times, Jackson boarded a plane on Saturday and arrived at the former president’s golf club in central New Jersey about 4:30 a.m. the next day.
The Texas Republican said Saturday that he has a nephew who was grazed by a bullet at the Pennsylvania rally.
“We heard a gunshot and everybody fell to the ground,” Jackson explained. “I don’t know if you guys have a picture, but he was grazed in the neck. The bullet went across his neck, cut him, and he was bleeding.”
