Illegal Alien Gang Member Arrested in Florida
An individual, previously deported from the U.S., was discovered living in Duval County, Florida. Law enforcement was seeking Lager Mandela Allen, a 32-year-old from Jamaica, for murder charges in his home country.
On March 31, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) apprehended Allen, who is affiliated with the Craig Town gang in Jamaica. Authorities were tipped off days prior, indicating that he had returned to the U.S. after being deported on April 28, 2022.
During a vehicle stop by the Florida Highway Patrol, Allen attempted to escape and, in the process, dragged one of the officers into a fence. Fortunately, the officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized. Allen was arrested with drugs and a stolen handgun in his possession.
Lauren Biss from the Department of Homeland Security emphasized the danger posed by individuals like Allen, saying, “This gang member, who is wanted for murder in his home state, is now stuck in our community because of ICE and our partners in the state of Florida.” She further noted the alarming rise in assaults on law enforcement, highlighting the challenges they face in apprehending criminals.
In addition to the murder warrant from Jamaica, Allen faces several charges in Florida, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and unlawful re-entry after deportation. He remains in custody in Duval County, and ICE has requested to keep him detained, ensuring he will be transferred to federal custody if released.
