
An Episcopal priest at a Houston church has been arrested along with more than a dozen other men on suspicion of soliciting sexual acts from minors. Undercover investigation.
Operation Home Alone 2024 was conducted by the Collin County Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with the Texas Department of Public Safety, Dallas Police Department, and Plano Police Department.
The sting operation took place from April 9th to 11th and targeted individuals who solicited sex acts from minors online.
According to Collin County Sheriff Jim Skinner, the man traveled to Collin County with the intention of having sex with minor children at an undisclosed location.
Among the 15 men arrested was 43-year-old Jason Myers. Vice-president at Trinity Episcopal Church in Fort Worth.
Ten of those arrested were charged with online solicitation of a minor, and the remaining five were charged with solicitation of prostitution from a person under 18, police said.
Myers was able to post bail and be released with an ankle monitor.
Police said they were able to obtain a number of electronic devices from the suspect and may add more charges once digital forensic analysis is completed.
Skinner said in a statement that parents need to be careful about their children’s social media use and online interactions.
“Operation Home Alone 2024 is a reminder of the potential dangers of online communication for children. Mobile phones, gaming devices and online computers are hunting grounds for those looking to prey on children. , we urge parents and guardians to talk with their children about the inherent dangers these devices pose,” Skinner said.
“Make no mistake about it,” he added, “my representatives are steadfast in our efforts to protect the children in our community from those who seek to harm them. “Operation Home Alone 2024 remains committed, and I take my hat off to them and the investigators from participating agencies for their work on this issue.” ”
The church announced that Myers had been suspended from his pastorate following his arrest, and leaders said they do not believe church members were harmed but are cooperating with police investigations.
