Arrests Made Following New Orleans Prison Break
Police arrested four more individuals over the weekend linked to a prison break in New Orleans, bringing the total to eleven. These individuals are suspected of assisting prisoners either before, during, or after their escape from the facility last week.
The recent arrests include 18-year-old Patricia VanBren, 27-year-old Tycheneare “Minnie” Randolph, 47-year-old Renton VanBurren Sr., and 40-year-old Angel Mackie. Interestingly, VanBurren Sr. is the father of Lenton VanBuren, one of the escaped inmates.
Authorities were attempting to execute a fugitive warrant at a residence in New Orleans District 7, hoping to locate VanBren, but he was absent at the time.
Four individuals taken into custody this weekend were specifically accused of aiding young VanBren in avoiding the police. This comes just days after another suspect, 28-year-old Emmitt Weber, was arrested for allegedly helping two inmates escape from the Orleans District Correctional facilities.
As of Sunday, five of the ten inmates who escaped remain at large. Corey Boyd was the most recent arrest, occurring on Tuesday.
Among those recaptured are Kendel Miles, Robert Moody, Doken Dennis, and Gary Price. Two others—Casey Smith and Colny Harris—were apprehended for their alleged role in the escape. Additionally, 59-year-old Connie Weeden reportedly transferred money to Donald via a mobile app, leading to charges of accessory after the fact.
Following are details about the remaining fugitives:
- 27-year-old Van Bren Jr., facing multiple charges including illegal firearms possession and obstructing justice.
- 42-year-old Jermaine Donald, charged with second-degree murder and other serious offenses.
- 32-year-old Antoine Massey, with a history of domestic abuse and other crimes.
- 27-year-old Derrick Groves, facing charges related to multiple murders and assaulting a correctional officer.
- 31-year-old Leo O. Tate Sr., charged with robbery, illegal weapon possession, and drug offenses.
Authorities are cautioning the public that these individuals are considered armed and dangerous.
