NYC Hospitals Shine in US News Annual Rankings
Four hospitals in the New York City area have made it onto the national top 20 list in the latest “Honor Roll” from US News & World Report, which highlights medical centers excelling in high-quality care.
Presbyterian Hospital, New York, Mount Sinai Hospital, NYU Langone Health, and Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey, received these prestigious accolades. The “Best Hospitals” rankings were unveiled on Tuesday.
Interestingly, these same four hospitals also achieved the top spot for best regional hospitals in the NYC Metro area.
The US News assessment covered over 4,400 hospitals across 15 specialties, spotlighting 504 hospitals nationwide.
NYU Langone Health specifically excelled in neurology and neurosurgery, marking its fourth consecutive year at the top. Additional strengths include heart disease, heart and vascular surgery, respiratory and pulmonary surgery, along with geriatric care.
Dr. Robert I. Grossman, CEO of NYU Langone and dean at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, expressed gratitude towards the team. “Thanks to the incredible employees working across an integrated healthcare system, NYU Langone has achieved unparalleled success this year, having the most top-ranked medical specialists among its peers nationally,” he noted. Besides the Honor Roll recognition, New York Presbyterian Hospital – Columbia and Cornell has also been distinguished in the top five for various specialties, including heart disease and orthopedics.
NYU Langone’s ranking encompasses several of its facilities, like Tisch Hospital and Kimmel Pavilion. Notably, their Specialties have placed consistently high, with all 13 of NYU Langone’s ranked clinical fields among the top 20 nationally.
“The depth of our neurology and neurosurgery team enables us to care for very complex patients, and we’re truly grateful for this recognition,” remarked Dr. Stephen L. Galetta, chairman of neurology at NYU Langone.
Mount Sinai also performed well, holding top rankings in various specialties and showcasing significant improvement in their standings compared to last year.

New York Presbyterian Hospital has now been recognized for 22 consecutive years, with 12 specialties making it into the top 10. They expressed gratitude towards their dedicated medical team for maintaining high-quality care across their facilities.
This year, Hackensack University Medical Center made history by becoming the first hospital in New Jersey to rank among the top 20 national hospitals according to US News & World Report.
