A significant altercation erupted during the game between the Pistons and the Hornets, resulting in ejections and chaos. In the end, the Hornets fell 110-104 on Monday.
This incident took place in the third quarter at Charlotte’s Spectrum Center. It all began when Hornets forward Moussa Diabaté fouled Pistons center Jaylen Duren while he was attempting a shot.
After the foul was called, tensions escalated when Duren and Diabaté made contact, leading Duren to shove Diabaté.
With emotions running high, Diabaté attempted to strike back at Duren. Despite being held back for a moment, he managed to break free and went after Duren again, only to be restrained once more near the sidelines.
Meanwhile, while most attention was on Diabaté, Miles Bridges confronted Duren, further escalating the chaos. Isaiah Stewart, who wasn’t dressed for the game, came off the pistons’ bench to confront Bridges.
All involved – Diabaté, Bridges, Duren, and Stewart – were eventually ejected from the game, and it’s likely that the NBA will look into the incident for further action.
At the time of the fight, the Pistons were leading 70-62, while the Hornets aimed for their tenth consecutive victory.
The aftermath of the brawl continued to affect the game, with Hornets coach Charles Lee also getting ejected in the fourth quarter. He had lashed out at the officials over what he believed was an incorrect offensive foul call on Grant Williams.
As he left the court, the home crowd responded with applause.
