Four Syrian brothers have been arrested in connection with a knife attack that nearly left a 67-year-old teacher dead in a German suburb of Hamburg last month.
The 67-year-old music teacher from Tornesch narrowly escaped death after being stabbed in the car park of an adult education centre in the Hamburg suburb of Wedel on July 19.
The teacher reportedly sustained wounds to his neck and upper body before fleeing into the school to escape his attackers.
Shortly after the attack, police arrested two men in connection with the stabbing, but they were released due to a lack of evidence.
But this week four men, aged 17, 19, 21 and 21, said to be brothers from Syria, were arrested by the local homicide squad on suspicion of attempted murder and dangerous bodily harm. Build Reports.
“Following the attack on the music school teacher in Wedel, and following a thorough police investigation, the prosecutor’s office has requested arrest warrants for attempted murder and causing dangerous bodily harm against the four people who are now urgent suspects,” prosecutor Peter Müller-Rakow said.
Local police confirmed that the teachers knew the attackers, but it was not immediately clear if they were students at the education center.
The four Syrian brothers are currently in custody and have yet to comment about the attack before a judge.
