Well, it appears that the twins aren’t the best at planning their weddings.
On November 14th, second baseman Luke Keishal, shortstop Ryan Kreidler, third baseman Brooks Lee, and pitcher Cole Sands have all scheduled their weddings. Friends and family now face the tough decision of which wedding to attend.
Lee mentioned to MLB.com that it’s unfortunate they all picked the same date, but perhaps it’s a case of teammates with similar timelines inadvertently choosing it. There’s a need to keep October clear for the World Series, and the holiday season comes afterward.
“You really want to avoid late October,” Lee commented. “And going too deep into November isn’t ideal either—Thanksgiving is right around the corner. It seems like everyone settled on that particular day.”
The players, living busy lives, planned their respective weddings without consulting one another, only discovering the overlap during spring training.
Twins manager Derek Shelton noted that November weddings aren’t too uncommon among MLB players. In fact, he himself tied the knot on November 15th.
“I mentioned my dilemma to them,” Shelton shared. “I was contemplating how I could get to each wedding.”
He even humorously suggested they should consider inviting guests who wouldn’t mind sending gifts for all four ceremonies. “Please include me in your invites! That way, I’d just need to send gifts to everyone,” he joked.
Unfortunately for him, Shelton won’t be able to attend any of the weddings since he’ll be celebrating his own anniversary in Napa, California.
However, Keishal and Lee aim to make things a bit simpler for those who wish to attend more than one wedding. They plan to coordinate their festivities slightly apart, and are hoping that some teammates might follow suit.
“Our clubhouse is fantastic,” Kreidler remarked during an interview. “I hope nobody feels pressured to choose between one or the other. Personally, I’d appreciate it if someone did come to mine.”
Despite the whirlwind of wedding planning, both Keishal and Lee are eagerly looking forward to seeing their brides-to-be. “Honestly, I’m quite emotional right now. I might just be in tears,” Lee confessed. “I might need a handkerchief!”
