Harlem Globetrotters Celebrate 100 Years of Fun

For many years, the Harlem Globetrotters have brought joy to basketball enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts alike with their incredible stunts and a vibe that’s all about family-friendly fun. This year marks their centennial, and the team is making strides to honor their history while also looking ahead.

In a special nearly hour-long feature titled “Harlem Globetrotters: America’s Greatest Show”, Fox Nation explores the fascinating journey of this world-renowned exhibition basketball team, which artfully merges sports and theatrics to create unforgettable experiences.

Hosted by Lawrence Jones of “Fox & Friends,” the show includes interviews with notable figures connected to the team, like president Keith Dawkins and players Torch, Cheese, and Wham. Jones also garnered insights from historians and other prominent personalities, such as Jesse Cole, who founded the Savannah Bananas, and former sports anchor Sage Steele.

In one of his speeches, Dawkins highlighted the significant achievements of the Globetrotters, discussing how they have emphasized themes of family and laughter over the years. He mentioned that attending a Globetrotters game feels like being part of one big family, where laughter and joy are abundant, bridging people from different backgrounds together.

Reflecting on how things have changed, Dawkins acknowledged that while the essence of fun has endured, they also need to adapt to modern expectations. “The world has changed since the ’70s,” he noted. “We need to be involved in social media, engage with the audience online, and do great things on the court.”

As part of their ongoing centennial celebration, the Globetrotters are launching a tour titled the “100 Year Tour.” This will see them performing across North America and in various international locations, from Spain to Australia.

Additionally, a new video game, Super Basketball Classics Featuring the World-Famous Harlem Globetrotters, is set to be released on both PC and consoles later this year, promising new ways for fans to connect with the team.

The special, “Harlem Globetrotters: America’s Greatest Show,” is available for streaming on Fox Nation.
