Fox News anchor embarrasses Biden campaign after they accuse him of spreading ‘blatant lie’

Fox News host John Roberts is firing back after the Biden campaign accused him of spreading “blatant lies.”

Biden’s campaign I love reminding voters President Joe Biden has capped insulin prices for Medicare enrollees at $35, but Roberts this week rejected the Biden campaign’s messaging, reminding Fox News viewers that it was then-President Donald Trump who first instituted the $35 price cap in 2020.

“I have evidence to refute the Biden campaign’s claims about what I said.”

“Maybe I’m remembering it wrong, but it feels like it’s already happened,” Roberts said.

On Monday, the Biden campaign claimed Roberts lied.

“This is a patent lie: Trump did not cap insulin costs, but President Biden did so for seniors through the Stop Inflation Act,” the campaign said. “Trump’s Project 2025 seeks to repeal it, which would mean higher insulin costs for over a million Americans.”

In the end, it is the Biden campaign, not Roberts, that is guilty of spreading falsehoods.

Roberts responded to the Biden campaign’s accusations on Tuesday.

“There is evidence to refute the Biden campaign’s claims about what I said,” Roberts said.

First, Roberts Citing the Press Release The Trump policy was announced by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in May 2020. A press release explained that the Trump policy would “provide Medicare beneficiaries with broader access to insulin with a maximum copayment of $35 per month.”

Second, Roberts cited Tracey Brown, who was then CEO of the American Diabetes Association, attending a Rose Garden event to announce Trump’s policies. Roberts played a clip of Brown thanking Trump for helping Americans who need insulin. Roberts further explained that she was in attendance at the Rose Garden ceremony.

Third, Roberts Citing an article from the Washington Post, Reporting on President Trump’s policies.

A newspaper report at the time stated:

The administration brokered an agreement between insulin manufacturers and some Medicare prescription drug plans that will reduce costs for some seniors by capping out-of-pocket costs at $35 a month starting in 2021. Administration officials said that figure would cut out-of-pocket costs by about two-thirds and encourage seniors to stick with insulin.

Finally, Roberts cited a report from the left-leaning think tank, the RAND Corporation. He praised Trump’s policies..

“We have invited representatives from the Biden campaign onto the show to discuss this issue, but so far no one has shown up,” Roberts concluded.

What Roberts did not include in his response was another of Trump’s orders. Executive Order 13937was designed to lower the cost of insulin. Biden later CancelledA $35 insulin price cap, essentially the same as the one enacted by the Trump administration, was then included in the Inflation Control Act.
