Fox News Dominates Viewership During Election Week
During election week, Fox News Channel was a primary source of information and insights for many Americans, especially regarding significant races in Virginia, New Jersey, and New York City.
The network recorded an average of 1.4 million daily viewers for the week of November 3, placing it at the top among all cable networks.
Remarkably, Fox News was the only cable outlet to exceed one million viewers. MSNBC came in second, averaging 695,000 viewers, followed by ESPN at 637,000. CNN garnered just 487,000 viewers.
Strong Prime Time Performance
In prime time, Fox News again led, attracting an impressive 2.2 million viewers. ESPN trailed with 1.5 million, while MSNBC had 1.3 million, and CNN ended up with 786,000 viewers. The network surpassed its liberal counterparts in total daily and prime-time viewership.
For the crucial adults aged 25-54 demographic that advertisers prefer, Fox News averaged 132,000 daily viewers and 220,000 in prime time, outpacing both CNN and MSNBC.
On election night, Fox News had an average of 2.92 million viewers in prime time, outperforming MSNBC’s 2.88 million and CNN’s 1.9 million. This night was notable for significant Democratic wins in key races, including gubernatorial contests in Virginia and New Jersey, along with the election of Zoran Mamdani as the next mayor of New York.
Fox’s coverage also surpassed NBC in 23 of the top 25 markets, including major cities like New York, Chicago, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C.
“The Five” was particularly successful, averaging 3.6 million viewers, making it the number one cable news program during this crucial time. Additionally, “Hannity” achieved the highest viewership among the desired demographic, with 311,000 viewers.
Recognition for Advocacy Work
Melania Trump was recognized as Fox Nation’s Patriot of the Year for her advocacy efforts supporting children globally.
Shows like “Special Report with Bret Baier,” “The Ingraham Angle,” “Jesse Watters Primetime,” “Gutfeld!,” and “FOX News @ Night with Trace Gallagher” have all played a part in aiding Fox News’s continued leadership in viewership.
In fact, “Gutfeld!” averaged 2.6 million viewers, surpassing CBS’s “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
There seemed to be no signs of viewer exhaustion post-election, as “Jesse Watters Prime Time” featured an exclusive interview with Erica Kirk—averaging 3.1 million viewers and 295,000 protesters.
Erica, the widow of the late Charlie Kirk, made her first appearance in an interview with Jesse Watters, discussing her husband’s legacy.
Other shows on Fox News like “The Will Caine Show,” “America’s Newsroom with Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino,” “Outnumbered,” “Faulkner Focus,” “The Story” with Martha McCallum, and “America Report” with John Roberts and Sandra Smith performed well, attracting more viewers than NBC’s “Today with Jenna and Friends” and “NBC News Daily.”
Kayleigh McEnany’s “Saturday in America” was the top show on Saturday with 1.4 million viewers, and Maria Bartiromo’s “Sunday Morning Futures” led on Sunday with 1.5 million viewers.
