Fox News Digital focus group reacts to Trump saying retribution will be success

Independents in a Fox News Digital focus group appeared to overwhelmingly support former President Trump’s portrayal of President Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, as a “convicted felon” in response to a question about his own “retaliation” during Thursday night’s CNN presidential debate.

“My retaliation was successful,” Trump said. “But [President Biden] “You’re talking about a convicted felon. His son is a convicted felon. At a very high level, his son has been convicted and will probably be convicted many times in the future and should have been convicted before.”

Approval for Democrats trended downward throughout the survey, while approval for Republicans continued to rise throughout Trump’s comments.

“Joe, given all of the crimes he’s committed, could be convicted as soon as he leaves office,” Trump said.

He later added: “This guy is a criminal. This guy, you’re lucky, you’re lucky. I didn’t do anything wrong. Our system is rigged and it’s terrible.”

Biden, meanwhile, dismissed the idea that he committed wrongdoing as “outrageous.”

“That’s just a lie,” Biden said. “Secondly, the idea that just because you’re the president you have the right to seek retaliation against any American is false. No president has ever said that. No president in the history of our country has ever said that.”

While Biden was speaking, his approval rating among Democrats rose, but his approval rating among independents and Republicans declined.
