On Monday, speaking on CNN’s “The Source,” Anthony Fauci, a medical adviser to former President Biden, said that questions posed by Fox News and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) during a congressional subcommittee hearing earlier that day were “the kinds of things” that led to an increase in death threats directed at him.
“You testified last week that you and your family continue to receive threats to this day,” CNN host Caitlin Collins said. “For those who don’t know, sitting behind you is your wife, Christine, who is well respected. And I’m asking you, did you ever think that two years after you left office, you would still be receiving those kinds of threats, credible threats against your life?”
“You know, it’s very interesting,” Fauci responded. “Katelan, this is a common pattern. Anytime any news organization, Fox News does this a lot, anytime anybody in Congress stands up and says publicly that I’m responsible for any number of deaths because of my policies, or that I have this wild idea that I created the virus, immediately, with regularity, there is a spike in death threats. That’s why when we have performances like Marjorie Taylor Greene’s extraordinary performance today at the hearing, I’m still getting death threats. That kind of thing generates more death threats, because there are people out there who believe that nonsense.
