Major Networks Halt Coverage of Trump’s Events

Fox News and other prominent television networks are reportedly ceasing their video coverage of President Donald Trump’s daily activities. This decision follows Trump’s withdrawal of White House access for CNN, MS NOW, and Politico due to what he described as “FAKE NEWS” reporting.

According to Kaitlan Collins from CNN, Bryan Boughton, who is the head of Fox News’ Washington Bureau and the chairman of the White House TV pool, informed that the TV pool would stop covering Trump’s events specifically designated for pool coverage.

In an email, Boughton stated, “This is to advise that, effective today, the TV pool will not be covering events designated as pool coverage of the President.” He added that this development aligns with the White House’s decision to block CNN from performing its pool responsibilities and mentioned that there would be no replacement pool established.

This action marks a significant shift in media engagement with the President, as the usual daily routine involves a pool of reporters that includes a couple of television networks equipped with videographers and other media representatives, alongside print journalists and photographers.

Typically, five networks—Fox News, CNN, ABC, CBS, and NBC—take turns in the primary TV pool slot each day, sharing video content via the White House Correspondents’ Association.

By withdrawing the primary pool camera coverage, the associated networks will not provide video documentation of the President’s public activities. However, the White House can still stream its events live on its social media platforms and YouTube channel, similar to its previous practices.

On Monday, which was designated as CNN’s turn in the pool rotation, there appeared to be no primary camera assigned to Trump’s scheduled events, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a subsequent trip to the U.N. General Assembly.

During his visit to New York City, Trump is set to meet with Mayor Zohran Mamdani and French President Emmanuel Macron, although these meetings will occur without press coverage.

Earlier, Trump asserted that the White House is not waging an “assault on Free Press,” a concept he holds dear. He clarified in a Truth Social post that the administration was instead challenging “FAKE NEWS,” which he claims has proliferated in the country.

Trump described this type of reporting as “corrupt, purposeful, pervasive, fully coordinated, and totally out of control,” expressing that it poses a threat to national security and must be stopped.
