House passes $1.2 billion spending bill
The House narrowly passed a $1.2 trillion federal spending package on bipartisan lines Friday, moving one step closer to avoiding a partial government shutdown at midnight.

The bill was expedited for consideration in the House with a suspension of rules that circumvented procedural hurdles in exchange for raising the threshold for passage from a simple majority to two-thirds. It passed by a vote of 286-134.
More Republicans voted for the bill than for it, with 112 Republicans voting against it and 106 voting for it. Only 22 Democrats voted against it. Many Republican lawmakers objected to having just one day to read the 1,000-page bill, which was passed under a suspension of rules that requires 72 hours between bill introduction and vote. And Democrats warned against groups that distribute chest binders to transgender children.
After the bill passed, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Georgia, told reporters on Friday that she had betrayed the “trust” of the House Republican Conference, vacating her chair and expelling Rep. Mike Johnson. A motion was filed. Through a bipartisan $1.2 trillion federal funding bill to avoid a partial government shutdown.
The Senate will next consider the bill.
