Fox News Media revealed on Tuesday that it has reached a licensing deal with the popular podcast “ruthless,” which aligns with the company’s move into new media territories.
According to Suzanne Scott, CEO of Fox News Media, “The Fox News Media Ecosystem, developed over the last seven years, continues to reach new milestones. We’ve built a robust lineup of successful personalities and are committed to thriving in today’s changing media environment, where in-depth engagement is key.”
This partnership comes as Fox News Digital President and Editor-in-Chief, Porter Berry, expands his role to oversee these new media projects. Scott expressed that Berry’s leadership would bolster the company’s digital initiatives.
Berry remarked, “It’s an honor to lead our new media efforts across various platforms, aligning with Suzanne’s ambitious vision. As the creator economy evolves, I’ve stood by the ‘ruthless’ ethos from the start. We’re broadening our reach and connecting with audiences through Fox News Media.”
The “ruthless” team is keen to elevate their podcast through this new alliance. With a growing interest in genuine political and cultural dialogues, they aim to reconnect with their dedicated fanbase.
Starting as a modest audio podcast in October 2020, “ruthless” has quickly transformed into a notable brand in conservative media. Co-founded by GOP strategist Josh Holmes, the podcast sought to bring an entertaining twist to conservative topics, which some critics initially found contentious, especially following Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s passing.
Holmes once shared, “We noticed a gap in conservative media for those who want to enjoy politics without the usual ideological preachiness. Our goal is to stay informed while keeping it fun.”
With co-hosts Michael Duncan and John Ashbrook, who worked with Holmes at Calvary consulting, they have all created a show that resonates with GOP figures, candidates, and hopefuls. They plan to cover major events, setting up in locations like Milwaukee for the upcoming GOP presidential debates.
On the podcast, they regularly engage listeners, referring to their audience as “veggies” and exploring various formats, such as popular games like “Dem or Journo” and “Veep or Veep.” Their series of humorous segments often put a lighthearted spin on serious political commentary.
Collectively, the co-hosts strive to bridge connections among traditional and newer Republican circles. They are experienced staffers who have previously supported figures like Senator Mitch McConnell.
Trust is crucial for the “ruthless” audience, as they are open to discussing past conservative challenges and share insights from their Capitol Hill experiences. The podcast has even drawn attention from the White House, with Ashbrook having a seat in the new media initiative established there.
New episodes of “ruthless” will be available twice weekly on all podcast platforms and YouTube, with co-hosts maintaining their tagline, “Stay ruthless.”
