Fox News Dominates Ratings Over Independence Day
As millions of Americans celebrated Independence Day, Fox News Channel captured significant attention, outperforming traditional broadcast options like NBC, CBS, and ABC during prime time. From June 30 to July 6, Fox averaged about 2.8 million viewers, while NBC had 2.4 million, CBS 2 million, and ABC 1.9 million.
During that week, Fox News led all cable networks with an average of 1.6 million viewers in the adult demographic crucial for advertisers, those aged 25 to 54. Additionally, Fox attracted 65% of its audience during primetime, solidifying its position by running this week’s top cable news broadcasts.
“Five” stood out with an average of 3.7 million viewers, dominating key demographics as well. Popular shows like “Bret Baier Special Report,” “Ingraham Angle,” and “Hannity” each registered around 2.8 million viewers, while “Gutfeld!” achieved an average of 3.1 million. Even “Fox News @Night” managed to secure 1.6 million, showcasing the network’s command over cable news.
Interestingly, while Fox excels during prime time, it also outperformed various free TV options throughout the day. Shows including “The Will Cain Show,” “America Report,” and “Out Number” surpassed morning broadcasts from CBS and NBC’s “Today” show.
The 4th of July brought a notable boost for Fox News, recording a 108% increase in viewer demographics, with total viewers averaging about 2.1 million—a 50% rise year-on-year during backyard gatherings and holiday celebrations. In contrast, CNN struggled with only 532,000 viewers and a significant decline in key demographics.
“The Big Weekend Show” led Saturday cable news with 1.7 million viewers, while “Sunday Morning Futures” by Maria Bartiromo topped Sunday ratings with 1.6 million viewers. This wave of success comes at the end of the second quarter of 2025, during which Fox News consistently outperformed its competitors.
In the second quarter alone, Fox averaged 1.6 million daytime viewers, eclipsing MSNBC’s 596,000 and CNN’s 406,000. This marks the sixth consecutive quarter that Fox News has led both daytime and primetime ratings.
Regarding primetime specifically, Fox left its competitors behind with an average of 2.6 million viewers, with TNT coming in second at 1.7 million and MSNBC trailing at around 1 million. CNN’s overall viewership fell short, achieving only 538,000 viewers, landing outside the top five cable networks.
It appears that Fox News continues to solidify its position at the top, outperforming ABC and NBC in key demographics throughout the second quarter.
