Fox ripped for USMNT-Uruguay camera angle on broadcast

For much of the first half, FS1’s coverage featured cameras that made the U.S. Men’s National Team and most of the Uruguay players look incredibly small.

And fans and viewers of the Copa America Group C match were not thrilled with how difficult it was to watch the crucial showdown that ended in a 1-0 defeat for the USMNT.

Fox Sports producers tried to fix the problem shortly after the game began, but According to The AthleticBut until the 39th minute, the network relied on angles from an around-the-world feed that looked as if they were “from a space station,” former Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes said. I wrote in X’s post.

“This isn’t a stadium for Ali,” commentator Stuart Holden said on air. “This is a very tall camera for CONMEBOL’s global coverage.”

Many fans commented on the cameras throughout the first half, which ended scoreless despite a number of injuries, including Uruguay star Maximiliano Araujo being carried off on a stretcher.

“The camera angles on this USA vs Uruguay match may be the worst viewing experience I’ve ever had.” A user wrote to X“It’s like watching it from an airship!”

“These camera angles on a Team USA game make it feel like you’re playing FIFA” Added by another user.

“I wonder if the US Broadcast to Uruguay camera is on a space station or something. I wonder what Fox is doing with this angle. It’s not like they don’t broadcast Chiefs games in this stadium a billion times nationally.” A third user wrote:He’s referring to the game taking place at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

According to The Athletic, previous football games held at Arrowhead Stadium have not featured such odd angles.

Once the broadcasters switched cameras, they stayed there for the remainder of the game, outside of other close-up angles that FS1 switched to.

Uruguay scored a goal from a set piece in the 68th minute, and although the goal was ruled out for offside, it remains controversial.

The U.S. team had many chances, including in overtime, but was unable to tie the game.

This loss, along with Panama’s win, eliminated them from the tournament.
